Abstract

Taking into account a detailed biblio-hemerographic seeking, this article explores the forgotten political
interventions of the young Carlos Astrada. Throughout a versatile itinerary, this outstanding Argentine philosopher established close links between new philosophical currents and various forms of political commitment. Until 1924, he sought to conceive and spread a philosophy designed to encourage the social emancipation in terms of vitalism and anarchism theories. To do this, along with Deodoro Roca, Saul Taborda and other young intellectuals from Córdoba, Carlos Astrada participated of a brief cultural avant-garde movement that sought to establish itself as a revolutionary guide for the University Reform. Specifically, the texts gathered in this article allow us to discover a young Astrada who, guided by vitalism and libertarian philosophies, identified the Soviet’s revolution as the starting point of humanity’s intervention in the historical process that would lead the society to its freedom. In an attempt to politically contextualize these unpublished texts, this article not only provides new information about the “beginnings” of Carlos Astrada,
it also shows that these beginnings were part of an original anarchist vitalism.
