Resumen
El propósito del presente artículo es delimitar la influencia de Baran y Sweezy en la formulación de la teoría marxista de la dependencia en América Latina entre 1950 y finales de los años sesenta. Consideramos las hipótesis que atañen los vínculos entre inversiones extranjeras y subdesarrollo, así como la determinación de la naturaleza de los modos de producción. La correspondencia entre Baran y Sweezy confirma la importancia de estas hipótesis para el estudio de las formaciones latinoamericanas en clave marxo dependentista y la edificación de estrategias políticas correspondientes. El artículo contribuye al estudio del papel de la izquierda socialista de los USA en la gestación de una crítica marxista del subdesarrollo en la América Latina de la posguerra.
