Abstract

The text examines the evolution of leftist culture in the contemporary context from the 20th to the 21st century. In his journey, the author highlights the incorporation of topics such as ecology, gender justice and cultural critique into the discussion of the left, a discussion not without tensions. As concern over climate change intensifies, figures like Greta Thunberg have mobilized youth, generating divisions on how to address the crisis. In addition, movements like #MeToo have challenged traditional notions about the presumption of innocence and the fight against patriarchy. Cultural criticism, including “cultural appropriation” and “cancellation culture,” raises questions about representation in art. The author asserts that despite divisions, the left remains committed to the struggle for justice and human rights, grounded in a rational humanism.
