Abstract

One of the characteristics of academic spaces where book and publishing studies are practiced is their interdisciplinary configuration and a certain degree of internationalism. Simple contrasts with other areas of specialization in the social sciences and humanities would enhance the expressiveness of this quality, which is by no means natural or inherent to "the contemporary." To demonstrate this, it is essential to conduct reflective studies on the field, to continue reviewing history as it unfolds, and to seek points of reference to observe ourselves from a distance—an anthropological action aimed at de-naturalizing and de-essentializing. Jean-Yves Mollier is one of the researchers who has most contributed to providing us with this particular physiognomy.
