Abstract

Since the early eighties Juan Jose Sebreli has developed a copious memorial literature centered at the stage
when he wrote his most original and influential essays, which starts in his juvenile articles in the fifties and finds its finished form in the book Buenos Aires, vida cotidiana y alienación of 1964. This book signified a climax on the life of Sebreli and produced the two major issues in which he divides his autobiographical attention: the city and the intellectual controversy. This paper aims to analyze both, trying to understand the road that led Sebreli to study Buenos Aires as a central part of the roads he walked within the city and its intellectual world.
