Abstract

Indoamerica publishing company was an important part of the activities, interests and career exhibited in the
intellectual and cultural life by the group led by Jorge Abelardo Ramos during the peronismo. As a project
which hid an aspiration to become a sort of intellectual intervention, this group undertook a work not always
noticed which led to the publication of twenty books, the dissemination of European and Latin American
authors, and a variety of topics located at the convergence between culture and politics. The reconstruction
of this cultural venture takes a deeper look not only into this group of political intellectuals, but also into the existing publishing and cultural space in the early 1950s. Additionally, the proliferation of a literature
of ideas associated with names like Leon Trotsky, Manuel Ugarte, Victor Haya de la Torre and Abraham
Leon reveals a process of selection and opening-up to different variants and intellectual, cultural, and political figures of the left-wing which operated in the background of a tradition —Trotskyism—, which was
revised pursuant to the effects that peronismo caused in this portion of the Argentine political culture.
