Resumen
El concepto de “la inversión de la praxis” (o “praxis que se invierte”) constituye sin duda el
leitmotiv de la interpretación del pensamiento de Marx realizada por Rodolfo Mondolfo
partir de 1909. Pero esa frase también puede tomarse como una expresión del curioso
recorrido del concepto marxiano de Praxis en Italia. Ese accidentado proceso, en el que
Mondolfo representa un momento central, estuvo signado por el malentendido pero a
la vez fue sumamente fructífero. Se inicia con la famosa traducción de las Tesis sobre
Feuerbach al italiano y al idealismo subjetivo llevada a cabo por Giovanni Gentile. Sobre
sus huellas y las de Arturo Labriola, más aún que sobre las de Antonio Labriola, construirá
Mondolfo su marxismo que, tal como el de Gramsci, confunde materialismo con determi-
nismo, y convierte a la praxis en una actividad que es ante todo conciencia y voluntad del
sujeto que mediante sus sentidos produce toda la objetividad.

Abstract
The concept of “the overturning of praxis” (or “praxis which is overturned”) is undoubtedly
the leitmotif of the interpretation of Marx’s thought developed by Rodolfo Mondolfo
since 1909. But that phrase can also be taken as an expression of the curious path of
Marxian concept of Praxis in Italy. That confusing process, in which Mondolfo represents
a central moment, was marked by misunderstanding but it also was extremely fruitful. It
begins with Giovanni Gentile’s famous translation of the Theses on Feuerbach to Italian
and to subjective idealism. Following Gentile’s and Arturo Labriola’s footsteps, even more
than Antonio Labriola’s lessons, Mondolfo builds his Marxism which, such as Gramsci’s,
confuses between materialism and determinism, and converts praxis into an activity that
is primarily the consciousness and will of the subject who produces the whole objectivity
through the senses.
